THEATRE ROYAL, COVENT GARDEN. The Play of The Two Gentlemen of Verona, again produced as great an effect on a brilliant and overflowing audience as any previous revival of SHAKSPEARE—The introduction of his SONNETS and the MUSICK, were enthusiastically received—and the CARNIVAL was not only deemed a most magnificent Spectacle, but a classical Embellishment of a Play of our Immortal Bard’s—The Two Gentlemen of Verona will therefore be performed on Saturday, and Monday, and four times a week till further notice. This present THURSDAY, Dec. 6. 1821, (6th time) Shakspeare’s Play of The TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA. With new Scenery, Machinery, Dresses & Decorations. The last was executed by Mr. PUGH The Overture and whole of the Musick (excepting two Melodies) composed by Mr. BISHOP. To be introduced in the course of the Play will be introduced SONGS, DUETS, GLEES, and CHORUSES, The Poetry selected entirely from the plays, poems, and sonnets of SHAKSPEARE. The Characters by the following Performers: Duke of Milan, Mr. EGERTON, Antonio, Mr. CHAPMAN. Proteus, Mr. ABBOTT, Valentine, Mr. JONES, Sir Thurio Mr. W. FARREN. THE CARNIVAL In which (according to ancient Custom at CARNIVALS) takes place the GRAND EMBLEMATICAL PROCESSION Of the Seasons and the Elements. 1st, Spring—2d, Summer—3d, Autumn—4th, Winter— 5th, Earth—6th, Air—7th, Fire—8th, Water. In this Element, CLEOPATRA’S GALLEY, is seen sailing down the river Cydnus. SCENE II. THE PALACE OF PLEASURE. The Genius of Pleasure, Miss E. DENNETT. SCENE III. Artificial Mountain in the Gardens of the Duke of Milan, Which explodes, and discovers SCENE IV. THE TEMPLE OF APOLLO. The Decorations & Emblematical Devices designed by Mr. BRADWELL, & painted & executed by Mr. BRADWELL. The following are the SELECTIONS from SHAKSPEARE. Songs—When I have seen the hungry ocean. Macleish. & Bonnertree No Orders can be admitted. The YOUNG LADY who last night made her 3d appearance on this stage, was again received with enthusiastic applause & will repeat the character of Sylvia this evening. The New Entertainment, called The Two Pages of Frederick the Great, continuing to be received throughout with the highest approbation and applause, will be repeated every evening.
